Ring the bells that still can ring,
Forget your perfect offering.
There's a crack in everything.
That's how the light gets in.

Christmas & Thanksgiving in San Diego 2008
We enjoyed 2 recent visits to San Diego, for Thanksgiving and an early Christmas. Here are some photos from our time together, though I didn't get photos of everyone this time, unfortunately.

Seeing the Isslers
We enjoyed hanging out with Dan & Christa Issler, and our cute god-daughter Kate. After giving Kate some presents at our house, we went to the zoo together.

Christmas in Corona & Skiing in Big Bear
Christmas in Corona & Skiing in Big Bear
We celebrated Christmas with the Nystrom clan in Corona. As always, it was great to be with that side of the family. Then Joe, Jessica, Andy, and I went up to Big Bear for some cross-country skiing for 2 days. It was great fun to be in the snow, and learn a bit more cross-country skiing from Andy. We managed to lose one snow chain, and break the second, so we had to buy new chains while we were up there.

Nearby Fires Are Not Threatening Us...
For family who is far away, you may hear about the fires that have been burning in Santa Barbara and Orange Counties. There is a fire in Brea area, which is the town right next to ours, east of the 57 Freeway (which is about 5 miles from our house). So I think a lot of the area along Brea Cyn Rd, where I bike, are burning. However, it sounds like when the fire jumped to the west side of the 57, firemen were able to put it out.

We are not very concerned at this point, as the fire would still have to travel several miles, and through city blocks (not brush) to reach us. But do please keep praying, as many people have lost their homes. Please pray especially for some of our relatives who live in Corona (where there is another fire), several families in our church, and Daniel's boss, who all live near fire areas. Here are some photos of the damage to a neighborhood and high school east of the 57 freeway, about 5 miles from our house.

Annual Halloween Party at the Nicks
Annual Halloween Party at the Nicks
Katie and I enjoyed a fun time at the Nick's Halloween party, just like we did last year. Katie was a ghost, and I was a ghost chaser, which is a photographer that tries to photograph ghosts. Ironically, I didn't really take that many photos at the party. I guess because there weren't really any ghosts besides Katie. But we did have lots of dry ice again.

MOM Peckham: These pictures remind us of Bukit Doa.

Katie: I asked him if they were Injinjinji (like Micah's), but he said they are so common in Japan he doesn't even know that brand name. Funny.

MOM Peckham: He, he, I just bought some in Bandung.

MOM Peckham: Hi you 2!

Jess: :) I took a picture of this exact tree trunk last time we were at balboa park.

Katie: yeah i love it! :)

DAD Peckham: It looks like the Hawaiian tree fern with the pith already extracted to make some kid a soccer ball like you had once..

MOM Peckham: And you 2! Where's Andy? I was expecting him to be the next picture...
